Question: What should one do with interest money?
Answer: One should return interest money to the source. However, if the source cannot be traced or the interest has been received through an institute such as the bank, then the Riba should be given away to the poor - Muslim or non Muslim- without any intention of reward.

The State of Major or Minor Impurity

Question: What is Hadath al-Akbar and Hadath al Ashrat?
Answer: Hadath al-Akbar (The major impurity) is when washing the whole body becomes obligatory. In this state one is not allowed to read Salaah, recite Quraan, enter a Masjid, etc. The washing of the entire body is called Ghusl. After Ghusl, Hadath al-Akbar will be removed.
Hadath -al Asghar(The minor impurity) is the washing and wiping of certain limbs. This washing is called Wudhu. Wudhu is required for Salaah, to touch the Quraan, to make Tawaaf, etc.

Mahr (Dowry) Amount

Question: What are the minimum and maximum amounts of Mahr?
Answer: Mahr (Dowry) is the money that the husband gives to his wife at the time of contracting the marriage. The minimum amount is 10 Dirhams which equals to 30.618 grams of Silver. There is no maximum amount. However, it’s not good to stipulate a very high amount.
Mahr Fatimi is the amount Sayyiduna Ali RA gave to Sayyidah Fatima RA. Mahr Fatimi is 480 Dirhams which equals 1530.90 grams of Silver.
As of the 27 of October 2017, the Mahr Fatimi is R12 415.60 and the minimum mahr is R248.31

Preconditions of Salaah

Question: What are the preconditions for the validity of Salaah?
Answer: There are seven preconditions of Salaah;
1) The person performing Salaah should be in state of purity (Wudhu).
2) The body should be clean of a impurities.
3) The place of Salaah should be pure.
4) Salaah should be performed in its respective stipulated time.
5) To wear pure clothing which cover the Awarah. (The Awrah of a male is from below the navel till below the knee. The Awarah of female is her entire body except the hands, face and feet).
6) To face Qiblah
7) One should have an intention in one’s heart as to which Salaah you are performing. The Muqtadi (follower) should in addition intend that he is following the Imam. [Qudoori Vol 1/ Page 76)
