Giving A Gift To One Child
DAILY FIQH
Question: Is it permissible for a parent to give all his/her wealth to one child during his/her lifetime?
Answer: Sayyidina Numan bin Bashir RA narrates: "My father gave me some of his wealth as a gift. My mother said that she would not be satisfied unless the Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam was made witness to it. My father took me to the Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam, who asked, "Do you have other sons besides him?" My father said, "Yes." The Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said, "Do not make me witness to injustice." ( Bukhari & Muslim)
Keeping the above in mind, it is undesirable for a parent to give preference to one child over another - whether male or female. All should be given equal during the parents lifetime.
However, if there is a valid Sharee reason, eg. one has excelled in Deen, or one is more in need than the others, - then, it will be permissible to give preference to one over the others. This is obviously with the conditions that there is no malicious intent.

Killing Lizards
DAILY FIQH
Question: What is the ruling with regards to killing lizards?
Answer: In a Hadith it is reported:
عَنْ أُمِّ شَرِيكٍ ـ رضى الله عنها أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَمَرَ بِقَتْلِ الْوَزَغِ وَقَالَ " كَانَ يَنْفُخُ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلاَمُ ". [البخاري]
Um Sharik Radiyallahu Anha narrates that the Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam ordered that lizards be killed and said, "It blew in to the fire of Ibraheem Alaihi Salaam."
It is also stated that when Baitul-Maqdis was put on fire, lizards blew into the flames to make it burn more.
It is because of these reason, we have been encouraged to kill lizards.

Reading Beyond At tahiyyat in the First Sitting
Question: What is the ruling if a person reads beyond At tahiyyat, by reading a portion of Durood Ebrahim in the first Qa`ada(sitting) of a four Rakaat Fardh Salaah?
Answer: If a person reads beyond At tahiyyat, in the first Qa`ada of a four Rakaat Fardh, Wajib or Sunnah Muakkadah Salaah, by reading Durood Ebrahim up until وعلى اّل محمد he will have to make Sajdah Sahw. However, if he stops before that - there will be no Sajdah Sahw.
As for the Sunnah Ghair Muakkadah and Nafl salah, it will be permissible to read durood after the At tahiyyat of the first Qa`ada as well. (Shaami v.2 pg.81)
The method for making Sajdah Sahw as follows: In the last Qa’ada after reading At Tahiyyat, make one Salaam to the right and then make two Sajdahs. After performing the two Sajdahs return to the sitting position and re-read At tahiyyat, read Durood Ebrahim, and the Duas read in the last Qa’ada. Thereafter, perform the Salaam to both the right and left side as one does to exit the Salaah.
P.S. The above ruling is according to the Hanfi Madhab. If you are a follower of any other Madhab, please consult your local scholar.
