Excessive Passing of Wind
Question: I have a problem keeping my Wudhu due to flatulence – does the Shariah grant any concession to me?
Answer: Due to flatulence, if a person’s Wudhu continues to break for an entire Salaah time, so much so that he/she does not find an opportunity to make Wudhu and perform Salaah without passing gas - then this person will be regarded as a Ma’zoor. After that, if during every Salaah time, the flatulence reoccurs, he/she will remain a Ma'zoor. But if the flatulence does not come about even once from one Salaah time to the next, then he will no more be regarded as a Ma'zoor.
The laws that apply to such a person is that he/she will have to make a fresh Wudhu for every Fardh Salaah time. Once he/she has made wudhu for a Fardh Salaah time, it will be permissible for him/her to read that particular Fardh Salaah, Nafl Salaah, Waajib Salaah and perform other ibaadaat (which require wudhu) such as touching the Qur’aan to make tilaawat etc. with that Wudhu. Once the Salaah time expires, his/her wudhu will break automatically.
Notwithstanding the above, if his/her wudhu breaks due to some other factor other than flatulence, then it will be necessary for him/her to refresh his wudhu.
P.S. The laws of a Ma’zoor are intricate therefore it is best to discuss with your local scholar.

Leasing of Property to a Liquor Store
Question: Can a land lord lease a commercial property to person who clearly indicates that he will sell liquor or pork on the premises?
Answer: It is not permissible for a Muslim to let out his/her property to someone who will conduct Haraam business. Selling liquor or pork are both Haraam. Hence, it will not be permissible to hire out a property to someone who intends to sell liquor or pork.
In the Noble Quraan, Allah Ta'ala says:
{وَتَعَاوَنُواْ عَلَى الْبرِّ وَالتَّقْوَى وَلاَ تَعَاوَنُواْ عَلَى الإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ}
"Assist one another in matters of righteousness and piety and do not assist each in sin and transgression."

Lifting the Feet off the Ground in Sajdah
Question: If a Musalli (a person performing Salaah) lifts his feet off the ground while in Sajdah – will his Salaah break?
Answer: A Musalli should keep his feet on the ground during the entire Sajdah. If a Musaali lifts his feet off the ground for the duration of a Rukan of Salaah (the duration in which ‘Subhanallah’ can be recited 3 times) –the Salaah will break.
However, if a person lifts his feet off the ground – for less than the duration of a Rukan – Salaah will not break, but, this action is nevertheless Makrooh (reprehensible). [Fathul Qadir 1:212]

The Qurbani Period
Question: What is the time period for Qurbani?
Answer: The Qurbani time period starts at the break of dawn on the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah and ends at sunset on the 12th of Dhul-Hijjah. The best day for Qurbani is the 10th, followed by the 11th and then the 12th of Dhul Hijjah.
Qurbani is allowed at any time during this period, including the nights of the 10th and 11th, but not the night of the 12th. Slaughtering at night is valid, but it is better not to do so.
People living in towns or cities, where Eid Salah is performed may NOT do their Qurbani until after the Eid Salah. Those residing in villages and farms that are at a distance from the place of Eid Salah may perform the Qurbani before Eid Salaah.
