Question: What defects disqualify animals from being slaughtered from Qurbani?

Answer: Animals chosen for Qurbani should be healthy, free from faults and defects. Here below is a general list of SOME of the defects:

  1. An animal blind in one or both eyes.
  2. An animal without ears from birth or one third or more of the ear is missing.
  3. An animal with one third or more of the tail missing.
  4. A lame animal which walks with only three legs, the fourth being totally useless.
  5. An animal without teeth or which has lost most of its teeth.
  6. An Animal whose horn has been broken off from the root. However, an animal born without horns or if the horn is broken off -not from the root -  it will be suitable for Qurbani.

P.S. The above is not an exhaustive list.
