Question: Can one who intends to make Qurbani , clip nails and remove unwanted  hair during the first ten days of Zul Hijjah?

Answer: It is Mustahab (desirable) for  the one who will be making Qurbani to avoid cutting hair or  nails, from the 1st of Zul Hijjah -  until after the Qurbani animal has been slaughtered.

Rasulullah salallahu alayhi wasallam said:“When the ten days (of Dhul Hijjah) begin and a person has an animal for sacrifice which he intends to slaughter, then let him not cut his hair or trim his nails.” (Muslim)

The Hilaal for Zul Hijjah 1436 will be observed on Monday, 14th September 2015 in South Africa.  If you intend to practise on the above Sunnah, then you should clip your nails and remove unwanted hair before Magrib on Monday the 14th of September 2015.
