Fasting On The 15th of Sha’baan
Question: What is Islamic status with regards to the fast of 15th of Shabaan?
Answer:It stated in a Hadith
It is reported from Sayyiduna Ali Radiyallahu Anhun who narrates that the Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: “When it is the 15th of Shabaan then stand in worship during the night and observe fast during the day.” Ibn Majah
Although the scholars of hadith have some doubts in the authenticity of this report, yet we know that the fasts of the first half of Sha'ban have special merits. Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam used to fast most of the days in Sha'ban. Added to that, a large number of the elders (salaf) of the Ummah have been observing the fast of the 15th of Sha'ban.
Therefore, it is advisable to fast the 15th of Sha'ban as an optional (nafl) fast. One can also keep a fast of qada on this day and it is hoped that he can also benefit from the merits of this fast.

Quraan Khatam WhatsApp Groups
Question: The ladies in our community have a Quraan Khatam WhatsApp Group. There are 30 participants on the group. Every month each member is given a Juz(portion) to read. At the end of the month, once members have indicated that they have recited their portions, Dua is made and the rewards are sent to the Marhoomeen. Is this practice acceptable?
Answer: It will be permissible to join a Quraan Khatam WhatsApp Group if one feels that by being part of the group it will serve as an encouragement to recite the Noble Quraan.
It should be kept in mind that it was not a common practice during the time of the Sahaba Radiyallahu Anhum for individuals to select Ajzaa (portions) and collectively make a Khatam of the Noble Quraan. Hence, this should not be considered as a Sunnah practice.
Be that as it may, it will be more virtuous and rewarding for a person to read his/her own Khatam of the Quraan instead of being part of a group.
It should also be noted that it is not permissible for Non Mahram males and females to be together on a Quraan Khatam group.
