Sleeping After Meals
Ummul Mu'minin, Sayyidah Aayesha R.A. narrates that Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said: " Make the digestion process simpler by engaging in Dhikr or Salaah after meals. Do not sleep after meals as this creates (spiritual) hardness in the heart." Mawahib Vol 4 Page 356
Note: Sleeping immediately after a meal is highly detrimental to one’s health. Ibn al-Qayyim RA advises a health-conscious person to at least take a hundred steps after supper (before going to sleep). Failure to do so does irreparable harm to the body.
Performing Salaah after meals aids in the digestion of the food. Hence it is advisable to engage in Salaah or any other form of Dhikr after meals. This would also be a display of gratitude for the food. [Ash-Shama'il al-Kubra Page 89]
