Question: What is the Musabbihat and when should it be read?

Answer: Al Musabbihat refers to five Surahs : 

(1) Al Hadid - Surah No 57;

(2) Al Hashar - Surah No 59;

(3) As Saff - Surah No 61;

(4) Jumu'ah - Surah No 62 &

(5) At Taghabun - Surah No 64 ( Ma'riful Quraan Vol 8: Page 305)

Sayyiduna Irbad Ibn Sariyah R.A. narrated that the Messenger Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam used to recite Al Musabbihat before he went to sleep and said: "In them there is a verse that is more meritorious than a thousand verses."  Abu Dawood

Awwaabeen Salaah

Question: What is Awwabeen Salaah and how many Rakaats should be performed?

Answer: Awwabeen Salaah is performed after Magrib Salaah. Between six and twenty Rakaats may be performed, in units of two or four. 

Nabi Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said:

مَنْ صَلَّى بَعْدَ الْمَغْرِبِ سِتَّ رَكَعَاتٍ لَمْ يَتَكَلَّمْ فِيمَا بَيْنَهُنَّ بِسُوءٍ عُدِلْنَ لَهُ بِعِبَادَةِ ثِنْتَيْ عَشْرَةَ سَنَةً ) سَنَن الترمذي  ج١ص٩٨

" Whoever performs six Rakaats(units) of Salaah after the Magrib Salaah, without interrupting it with any evil talk, will receive the reward of twelve years of worship." {Tirmizi V1:P98}

Durood Ibrahim

Question: What is the best Durood (Salaat & Salaam) to read in the final sitting of Salaah?

Answer: Sayyiduna Ka’ab bin Ujrah R.A. narrates that once it was enquired from Rasoolullah (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallim) as to how blessings should be sent to him. The Prophet (Sallal Laahu Alaihi Wasallim) replied that the blessings be said in the following manner;

اللَّهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ، وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ، كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَعَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ، اللَّهُمَّ بَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ، وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ، كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ، وَعَلَى آلِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ ‏"‏‏.‏

O Allah! Send Your Mercy on Muhammad and on the family of Muhammad, as You sent Your Mercy on Abraham and on the family of Abraham, for You are the Most Praise-worthy, the Most Glorious. O Allah! Send Your Blessings on Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as You sent your Blessings on Abraham and on the family of Abraham, for You are the Most Praise-worthy, the Most Glorious.'
