Question:  Is it necessary for water to flow into an earring hole during Ghusl?

Answer:  When taking an obligatory ritual bath (ghusl,) one should ensure that water flows over the entire body and through any part of the body that is pierced. Therefore,   a lady should ensure that water reaches into the earring holes, whether she is wearing earrings or not.  Furthermore, if she is wearing earring, she should either move or remove the earrings to allow water to reach below it.  (Maraqi al-Falah with Tahtawi, P: 102)
