Question: What act of worship should one engage in during sunrise, sunset and Zawaal (when the sun is at its peak)?

Answer: As a general rule Salaah is prohibited at sunrise, sunset and Zawaal. It is permissible to read Quraan during these times, however it is best to make the Thikr of Allah and read Durood.

الصلوة على النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم والدعاء والتسبيح أفضل من قراءة القران في الأوقات التي نهي عن الصلوة فيها (رد المحتار ج٦/٤٢٣)
