Question:  I currently reside in Port Shepstone and have family in Durban. I travel to Durban most weekends and school holidays. Will I be regarded as a mussaffir when I travel to Durban?

Answer: If a person sets out on a journey with the intention of travelling for 78km or more then in terms of Shariah he is considered to be a Musaafir (Shar’ee Traveler). Since Durban is more than 78km away from Port Shepstone, you will be considered as a Musaafir and will perform Qasr Salaah( 2 Rakaats in Dhuhar, Asr and Esha)
