Question:  How do I calculate how much Zakat I need to pay?

Answer:  Zakat is compulsory on a person who possess Nisab.  At present  the Nisab of Zakat is approximately R4911.12 (612.36 grams of Silver). The person who possesses this amount of cash/assets for a complete year, will give 1/40th of his  wealth as Zakat. That is,  two and a half percent - R2,50 for every   R100.
